Hello Mom and Dad, I have done alot of things in this term. Some of the things I did will be showed in my portfolio. For example, my definition cards and my Cro Magnon drawing. The two subjects that I was good at this term was science and social studies. The two things I need to improve on are math and l.a. My goals for the last 6 weeks of school are to do more of my homework and study hard for tests/exams.
Adult Response
In looking at your work, I would like to compliment you on the following 2 things:
I thnk the cuneiform tablet was a great thing to do because its great to see my child using playdoh again. Its a great project and hes tablet came out very nicely.
I also like the Cro Magnon drawing because it was a very big and bright poster. I think you should be doing those assignments more often.
In the last 6 weeks of school I will help you reach your goals by:
My goal is to study very hard for tests and quizzes because exams are right around the corner.
My other goal is to go on the Honour Roll for the third time this year so I could get the Sargent Park pin.
My Subjects
Math
Term 1 Math Reflection:
What I learned this year in Term 1 is all the things about ratio, rate and proportion. There are different kinds of ratios like the Two Term Ratio and the Three Term Ratio. A Two Term Ratio compares two quantities measured in the same units. A Three Term Ratio compares three different quantities measured in the same units. A rate compares two quantities measured in different units. A unit rate is which the second term is one. A unit price is used when shopping. Proportion is a relationship that says that two ratios or rates are equal and can be written as a fraction.
Term 2 Reflection:
In Term 2 we learned about percents, surface area and volume. I didn’t really do well in percents because I didn’t study at all so my marks definetley were bad. In surface area and volume I did great! I actually understand how to do both of them and I did great on the tests. I understood what to do and I knew what the formulas were. I learned that to find the volume of a rectangular prism and a triangular prism is area of base x height. I also learned that to find the volume of a cylinder is π x r x r = h. Next term I will listen more in math class so I could get perfect on my tests. And I will also do more blogs.
How does The Man Who Planted Trees relate to us, to me, to the school and to the local community? The man who planted trees relates to us, to me, and the economy because we are currently trying to make the earth a better place to live and we are also trying to plant more trees because trees produce oxygen. But along the way we cut down so many trees we have to replant one in its place.
What motivates people and organizations in their approach to the environment? Consider the following factors: money, publicity, votes, community benefits, prizes and awards? What limits their ability to be “green?”
The positive outcomes motivate the people to help the environment such as how it will improve their lifestyle and how it will benefit their community. The story did no thave any pictures so the drawing had to be what we thought of the story.
Intent The purpose for doing this assignment was to see if we were able to interpret a short story into an image.
Criteria To be successful you had to create a drawing of a scene in Thank You Ma'am and draw it how you think it should look and color it. NEXT STEPS:

Intent: The purpose of this poster is to gain a deeper knowledge of how and what the cro-magnon people did to survive.
